Hello All.

No need to worry about us anymore. No need to put the songs on repeat.... in the dark... in your room.

We have found someone.

His name is Billy. He is joining the crew, moving into the mansion, and we are making some exciting music. It is actually fun to play now. We have a lot of others that got our attention (not talent wise) so a moment of silence for *power* his real name. A soon-to-be porn star. A long island native. A person from space. Just to name a few. Thanks for their attention to the project. But Billy is the new guy.

He will be writing an introduction when he gets back from the hamptons this week... he is working... he is not that cool. ha

But there are good things coming. We are heading into the studio to re-record vocals and touch stuff up for our single "Pilot Lounge" and "Past Experiences" that will be released on Feed That Baby Records later this fall. We will have a show in NYC to introduce everyone to the new line up (you will be facebooked). A tour in winter/ spring. And a new album in the works with our guru OP. Also. We have signed with Annalisa. She has signed her life away. I do not think she cares that much... hopefully

It was a little rough for the past couple of weeks with not knowing what would become of all the hard work from the three of us. But we found the next guy and it fits.

We are going to haze him for a bit. So suggestions are welcome. You can check out his acoustic tracks here.

I do not have a lot to say. Except Eric and the band have parted ways, but that will not slow down all the progress we have made. We are looking for a new singer that will bring us to the next step. This could not have been achieved before. So tell your friends! ha

On a lighter note. We have signed with Feed That Baby Records. A UK imprint of Poison Tree Records. The single "Pilot Lounge" will be released by the fall. So check the interweb where to download it along with extra goodies. You can hear the rough cuts at our myspace and facebook.

Also August 15th we are playing Pianos. With special guests. Also it is the night before my b day so should be fun. Come make bad decisions.

We are in the middle of recording a new record as well as setting up a tour. So there are things happening and we are excited for the new person who will come and complete this already stellar production.

I saw bright eyes there..and met conor oberst in his prime before he grew his hair and was the emo symbol of emotion and angst.... well we played there... and it was awesome... i think we played an amazing show.... but we are not going to Germany... that's fine we are doing a northeast tour instead... stay tune for dates.... the funny thing is... this other band ...to be named later... spent massive amount of cash to discount their tickets so they can get their people... rich kids... and they still did not go HAHA... i thank everyone who came out... it was awesome to play the venue and put on a show for all family (thanks) and friends (thanks) that has been there to see us grow up and get to this point... in a way it is better i did not go to Germany... i would been lost in Europe for the next couple of months haha... but we are hitting the studio and doing it the right way... not this pyramid scheme bullshit... OP has big plans... he keeps saying..among other things... that we are going to work hard to put the best record together... for example we gave him about 20 ideas and he has taken 4. but it has made us work harder and really push ourselves to create something we are proud of... GOOD THINGS ARE COMING (please reference grandma's boy)

As for everything else we have been a band about year seriously...not counting our drew fame... and we have made strides... i have been working song writing... prolow is always perfect... benson has become a real bass player (fuck law school) and eric has fallen in to the role of topping the jonas brother... do not know the name of the curly haired guy...btw they are going to grow up and have a serious drug problem/dating issues/balls dropping... please reference the mickey mouse club minus JT and Christina... we are on a nickname basis... And with all the fights and lectures from OP and everyone we played an awesome set.... too bad we weren't bribing people to come and daddy did not pay for our friends to get wasted and vote for us....all this angst is well deserved from all the shit these guys have talked....

RIP Michael Jackson/ FIRST MJ VIGIL, SUCK IT PLANET EARTH

Today, the world lost an incredible musical icon and entertainer. Michael Jackson had an amazing muscial career and touched millions of people's hearts. Michael, you will be missed.

Now! More importantly, I have just fulfilled my childhood dream of starting the first vigil in the world for...something.

But Benson, how do you know you had the first vigil in the world?

Sit down my babies and I will tell you. As my roommates and I sat and watched as MSNBC changed its headlines saying that Michael slipped from his coma and died, I felt a great many things. However as a vigil enthusiast, my strongest feeling was to burn something. After screaming a dramatic "Noooooo!", as my roommates will confirm, I immediately ran around the house to find something flammable (this did not take long, we basically live in a death trap).

Now it is my understanding that there were people in costume mourning within minutes of the announcement of his death. this clearly counts as a vigil, correct? NOPE. they didnt burn shit. try again bitchez. you can go ahead and wipe those tears away with you silver medals you pussies because everyone knows that YOU ARENT SAD UNLESS SOMETHING GOT BURNED. if the millions of michael jackson fans out there have any class or humanity within them, Los Angeles should be fucking ablaze tonight.

Now do not get me wrong, this vigil was no small effort. I went through all the proper motions that a grieving "vigilante" (ha) needs to go through. after screaming "no" for like 8 seconds (which if you actually count it out is really fucking long), I found myself a big ol' sheet of paper and wrote in poor hand writing a personal message to michael. i was going to include a crudely drawn picture of us holding hands in the corner, but i wanted to keep this out of the tabloids. then the actual act of lighting my torch of despair took forever because apparently new jersey has gail force winds whenever a celebrity dies. who knew. but fear not, the torch lit, and with my tender, heartbreaking message in hand, i headed outside to share my grief with the world:

see, i'm pouting because the king of pop is dead, but inside I am like freaking out because I can't wait for guiness to get in touch with me to ask me about how i fired up that vigil so quickly.

in all seriousness though folks, this sucks. MJ was cool as shit, and if i was a little boy, i would be bragging my ass off about getting rubbed down by the king of pop.

between michael and farah fawcett, today is like the worst "too-soon, poor-taste joke" day since september 12th 2001.i think we should all make our way to a bar tonight and blast those tunes all night while drinking flirtinis or whatever the hell MJ drank. Michael, i hope you are moon-walking in a better place now.

How to Care for Your New Benson

I am writing to announce that I have discovered the ingredients to "Happy Benson." What is "Happy Benson" you ask? "Happy Benson" is the type of Benson that doesn't mope and cry all the time. "Happy Benson" is the guy you want to have a beer with in the bar. In his happy state, Benson is the fun, entertaining, hilarious friend you always wish you had. Sad Benson is another story.
Sad Benson has been making frequent appearances around the house. He is appropriately captured in this state in the image above. He comes home from work, depressed and bummed out. Any inquires as to why, are usually met with the response, "I'm not in a bad mood, why do you say I'm in a bad mood? WA WA WA" All of this occurs during a moping session unrivaled by most 2 year olds.
Now what is the cure for sad Benson? RED BULL!!!!! Benson requires caffeine like a wizard requires manna. (What up new nerd Matt Langner) If you follow these simple steps you will have yourself a "Happy Benson."
1. Keep your household Benson fed with any type of caffeine and suddenly sad, angry, annoying Benson is gone. Happy, productive, all around cool guy Benson returns. If you really want an extra happy Benson, add a can of PBR for every can of Red Bull or equivalent energy drink and you will be set.
2. Frequently discuss video games, those really cool shoes, or any Strokes song and "Happy Benson" will appear 50% of the time without requiring the use of energy drinks or PBR.
3. Benson also requires 8 hrs of sleep everyday. He usually gets around 6 or less. As a rule for every hour of sleep lost feed your Benson two diet Pepsis or one Red Bull per hour lost. If your Benson sleeps 8 hrs or more do not be afraid to still feed your Benson a diet Pepsi or two, it will maintain "Happy Benson" status for longer periods of time.
4. Find your Benson a "Bro-Mate"- A "Bro-Mate" is like a soul mate except it's a bro. Benson, when he is in a good mood, has found a "Bro-Mate". His name is Matthew Langner and when "Happy Benson" is around, they are inseperable. Just ask Caroline or Jackie.
5. Shackler's Revenge. 5 plays in a row will bring Happy Benson out, but only for a limited period of time without the previously prescribed cure of Red Bull or Diet Pepsi.

Things to Avoid discussing in order to prevent "Sad Benson"
1. Sandy
2. Animal Cruelty
3. Any movie with Robert de Niro or any Mafia related film ( The Godfather, Goodfellas etc.) Benson hates all of them, even though he has never watched any of them all the way through. He however loves the Departed, which is no where near as good as either previously mentioned Motion Pictured.
4. Benson also has a hatred of Vodka. Vodka makes Benson turn all kinds of red. He is clearly allergic, but still on occasion will imbibe with disasterous results.
5. Diet Coke. Benson only consumes products made by the Pepsi Corporation. He hates Coca-Cola and all they stand for (Except for the Polar Bears at Christmas time).

So in closing, if you have a Benson around your house and want to keep him happy, follow the steps I laid out carefully everyday and you will have yourself a happy, fun, good Benson. If you chose to ignore these steps, you are proceeding at your own peril.

First. Hello everyone. The weather is great, isn't it? It is reminding me of summer and how pumped i am to get that spray tan.

Anyways. We have been really busy these past couple of weeks.

We played a show at the Bitter End two Saturdays ago. Thanks to all who came out... it was right up there with the crowd from Fat Baby. We are now moving on to play crash mansion may 24th (i know it's memorial day weekend, but what is better than a BBQ and then a rock show?) You can get tickets here for $12. There is more info to come.... do not worry the harassing emails are on their way. haha.

We have been in the studio recording new tracks. We recorded at metrosonic studios in Williamsburg (hipster cred) and in Bushwick (some street cred) Our leader OP has been awesome. We did our tracking of five songs in couple hours. And it sounds fucking massive. He is currently mixing it and i am excited to share these new songs with you.

Last Friday we played our alma mater at the pub. Thanks to those came to see the exhausted shit show that it was. I have nothing more to say about that.

Finally.

I have been working a day job at a college catering to the non-English-speaking contingent.

Benson is still working at COSI and has gotten an "interesting" haircut hopefully we can get band pictures before he changes it hah.

Prolow is still killing dreams. But due to the nice weather has been frequenting the outside.

Eric has gotten into steroids and has been reading mens health looking for new ways to enlarge his already exquisite thigh/calf muscles

first and foremost, I would like to give a moment of silence to my collegiate beverage of choice: Sparks. although it has not technically been discontinued, the removal of the caffeine from this essentially perfect drink renders it as uninspired and wholly marginal malt liquor drink in the realm of smirnoff ice lameness.

however before we take this moment of silence, i feel it is entirely necessary to share the wikipedia page i referenced for the information pertaining to this blog:
"Created by San Francisco-based beverage marketing firm McKenzie River Corporation, early marketing relied on word of mouth primed by giving away large quantities of the beverage. as it were, for every dark, ominous and depressing cloud there is, there is in fact a silver lining. the graceful yet tragic departure of Sparks as we know it from the market has left a vacancy for some ridiculously potent, attention deficit beverage to fill.
My darlings, may i introduce you all to the era of JOOSE.
but what is JOOSE you ask? well, according to the label, joose is, in addition to being a whopping 9.9% alcohol per volume, is 23.5 ounces of premium malt liquor, natural flavors, caffeine ginseng, taurine and FD&C Yellow # 5. what does this equate to besides one sloppy shit show of an evening? an overly sugary, grapey, toxicly after-tasting disaster of a drink choice.
do i recommend it? YES...ish. k, i'm not going to lie, its pretty beastly. it basically tastes like paint thinner with about thirty cups of splenda and maybe an orange rind. whatever, it will get you shitty in anywhere between 6-11 minutes if you drink aggressively. once you have knocked down said quantity, you are all hulked up and ready to fucking punch through walls and run as fast as you can to... wherever? it doesn't really matter, the long and short of it is you will have an overwhelmingly unnecessary amount of energy for someone who is shitfaced.
Sparks left some pretty huge, sloppy shoes to fill and joose, for better or worse, has stepped up to the plate with a vengeance. after one night with one can of JOOSE and a pair of sparks, i found myself trimming my sideburns with one shoe and no pants at like 9:30 on a tuesday. blindsided. i didn't stand a chance. basically, what i am trying to say is that Sparks could not have passed the torch to a more fitting successor.

kk, so, this has been like 70 minutes and 4 paragraphs dedicated to one drink so i am going to hurry up and wrap all this up. JOOSE is pretty burly, and if you are up to the inevitable cavitites and hangovers, you should give this sumbitch a spin.

first of all we would like to thank all of our DC area friends for coming out to our show at solly's last thursday. the show was a lot of fun and kind of hilarious. after playing a really fun set for an amazingly supportive crowd, we all went our own ways and ran around dc getting ourselves into a myriad of nonsense. for starters, we met some wild ol' cougar named candace who told us dirty joke after dirty joke in between anecdotes about her days hanging out with the rolling stones (she unsympathetically referred to keith richards as an ugly old lizard), we had eric's grandma literally dance to our songs, ran over to (dave grohl's) black cat venue/lounge to get drinks with some weird older girl who hit on us incessantly and then cruised over to JONCON's spot to lose our minds and call it a night on a loveseat divided three ways. photo finish? YUP

alright kids, i know hello midnight has been barking up the recently graduated, overqualified-underemployed, semi-impoverished tree for a while, BUT IF YOU COME TO ANY HELLO MIDNIGHT SHOW AT ALL, sugar, this is it.
for you un-hip few not in the know, we have entered a bracket style battle of the bands and have essentially made it to the elite 8; i.e. we are within striking distance of a booze-sponsored trip to germany for a killer tour, or some nonsense.

That is right. Even transcendent (ha always wanted to say that) people like myself have to serve jury duty.

And really i see why everyone knocks it. There are about 300 something people quarantined in the court building hoping or dreading their number being called. And all you can do is wait, awkward conversations, and people watch. The characters that are here are amazing though. I had a guy heckle everyone who walked in the room. Even the officer who gave the orientation, he was sitting right behind me. The people here are defined as a cross section of Essex County (What What) and it does not look that good. Especially in this economic fist fuck that we are in people are extremely displeased by having to sit, staring at each other for about 8 hours? I got here around 8 all dressed (the dress code said "must wear shirt" or "your pants cannot be THAT tight" i think i defied the latter?) and they still have yet to pick anyone. It is going to be long day. But i hope to make friends with some interesting people.

A few things i must share with you.

First. We played last night. We conquered. We are moving on to the next round of Emergenza. Very pumped about it. If we lost I would have been so mad. And embarrassed. Not saying that there was not talent there. They were all good. But it gave me too much of a picture into my future if I do not get my shit together (overweight, shaved head, soul-patch, wearing a cut off sleeve neon blue t- shirt). That's all i can say. But I need you to come out to the next one at The Bitter End. Date TBA in April.

Second. I am making D.C my bitch. We are playing on March 26th at Solly's Tavern. Only 5 dollars. A Lincoln if you will. At 8pm. For all you working folk. And cheap enough for us poor people.

It is going to be the first time i have been able to run around D.C. and not check out monuments (shout out to the 8th grade D.C. trip). NOVEMBER RAIN REVISITED

just so you have an idea of what i am talking about.

so the other night prolow and matt start this really long and technical discussion about GUNS N' ROSES' november rain music video. now i vaguely recall seeing the video and remember something about axl rose playing a piano and a wedding or bar mitzvah or whatever and let it slip that i hadn't seen it in a while and didn't really remember what happened in it. in a furor of utter disgust with my ignorance coupled with excitement at an excuse to watch the video again, matt and prolow whisked me away to a computer so i could experience the greatness of this music video as soon as possible.

IT IS THAT GOOD. To be completely honest, these reviews aren't actually for the November Rain video. These are all reviews for the Dark Knight, but i thought they worked here too.

anyway, i was correct in my recollection about a wedding. while axl croons behind a piano with the band, the story part of the video shows that the whole gang went on down to the cathedral to watch axl get married in a ridiculous outfit to some leggy brunette about 8 inches taller than him. slash's whole "oh no where'd the rings go?" part was pretty priceless, but i especially enjoyed when, during the middle of the service, slash just turns around and storms out of the church, as if to say "this is just too fucking beautiful, i can't take it. need. to. solo."

once out of the cathedral, slash is magically changed back into his whole leather chaps, cowboy boots and biker jacket look, just in case any viewers were confused as to whether or not GNR was a band or just a bunch of effeminate dudes who hung out together. after making sure that he was a safe distance from the church to ensure it wouldn't be reduced to rubble from the rocking he was about to lay down, slash busts out some of the most intense late 80's early 90's era rockstar shit i have ever seen.

my prior impressions of slash led me to believe that he would just roll out of his nest of drugs and titties about 15 minutes to showtime so he could stagger up on stage to chain smoke and play face-melting vertical guitar solos. honestly, i wasn't entirely sure that slash was even awake, or at least not in the traditional sense for extended portions of GNR shows. these misconceptions were quickly brushed aside though; after seeing this music video, i cannot adequately express how wowed i was by slash's awesomeness.

standing in the middle of fucking nowhere on a dusty plain outside the church, this guy gets into some insane limbo god power stance with his legs far enough apart to park a suburban between.
the sheer epic-ness of the whole scene was quite appropriately chronicled using a helicopter fly-by, and 5 other cameras, probably the only way that a GNR guitar solo should be recorded.

SPOILER ALERT:
at the end of the music video, in a dramatic twist, axl's new bride dies of unexplained causes while slash stomps his way on top of axl's piano and bangs out yet another searing guitar solo. coincidence? i think not. i think everybody here knows the cause of death. in a scenario with direct parallels to the story semele, zeus' mortal wife who demanded to see zeus' true form only to perish in a fiery lightning-induced explosion upon seeing him in all his magnificence, the bride was CLEARLY killed by the ginormitude of slash's rocking. what else could it have been? she obviously got within the safe rock radius and was simply blown away by the slash's inconcievable awesomeness.

well, that or she fell victim to a fatal STD from axl's toxic dong..... actually now that I think about it it is probably like a 50/50 split.... whatever, i'm getting sidetracked here.

anyways i thought that was fairly obvious but you can all draw your own conclusions. in any event, go watch the damn video. it is pretty amazing, both intentionally and ironically.

first and foremost, happy new years my babies

now sit back and let me paint you a picture...

it is new year's eve. prolow and i are hanging out, putting away as much shitty alcohol as our bodies will allow while our girlfriends watch us uncomfortably. now to be completely honest, new year's was not a terribly momentous occasion as far as hello midnight evenings are concerned. i went to work, got off, picked up some wine and champagne, came home and hung out with my roommate and girlfriend. the only thing out of the ordinary was that all day, i kept jokingly promising prolow that at the stroke of midnight, we would duel with our champagne corks and that i would crush him in the face with my cork. hardly prophetic. OR SO YOU ALL THINK.

our story leaps forward a few hours...

it is now 11:54 or so. all i can remember at this point is turning off an episode of always sunny so that we could watch the ball drop. and, much more importantly, throw down. the ball drops, dick clark reminds america just how horrible he looks these days, blah blah, whatever, IT IS FUCKING GO TIME. i put on some protective sunglasses and tell prolow to do the same. now just to put this all in perspective, i am about 2 drinks from falling flat on my face and still won't shut up about prolow's imminent doom. in an uncommon act of sheer burl-itude, prolow walks about 8 feet away from me and says for me to just go ahead and try to hit him.

at this point in the story, prolow becomes gene hackman and i become the hairiest sharon stone you have ever seen.

long story belatedly made short, i fire off the bottle of korbel and the cork crushes gene hackman square between the eyes, throwing his glasses away and thoroughly surprising the shit out of everyone present, most of all myself, who immediately squealed "oh my god are you okay?? holy shit i am so sorry! i am so sorry!"

too amazed at the improbability of what just happened to be angry, prolow hugged me and said that was the most amazing thing he had ever bore witness to. i think he was just scared i would shoot him again, but he was a good sport.

this is my overly circuitous way of explaining to you all that i had a retardedly amazing new year's eve, and can think of no other way i would have liked to start this year.

Chapter One
So this morning I woke up at 1:30 hung over as balls with blood on my face, a bandaid on my hand that looked as if it was applied by a monkey, and that horrible feeling that I did something retarded the night before. Of course, I was correct in this assumption. I swear, blacking out is the closest thing to time travel that I will ever accomplish. It is like an exact scene out of Terminator: One day I am bro-ing out with the band, having a couple of drinks, then suddenly I am naked in the fetal position the next day nauseous ready to fucking kill somebody. But I digress; what sort of night led to this trainwreck of a friday morning? Unfortunately, I don't have enough time nor the actual recollection of last night's events to accurately describe what took place. However with the aid of my associates, we have been able to compile a rough list of the events that took place from 7:30 pm to 5:00 am....

Chapter Two
So yesterday was the day Hello Midnight designated for our annual Secret Santa Holiday Party. After picking up a bottle of the world's shittiest Cognac for Prolow, I headed home to find a bright orange reminder of just how destitute we are on the door. That's right. The officials of Jersey City officially condemned our house saying that it is "UNSAFE FOR HUMAN OCCUPANCY." Stellar. Naturally we decided to celebrate this dubious event after practice by exchanging Secret Santa presents (all of which were alcohol) and having ourselves a private holiday party. Now to be perfectly honest, none of us can say with any certainty exactly what happened over the course of the night because we all got as shitfaced as we could possibly get. However, after sitting down and fleshing out what we all could remember, we were able to create this rough list of last night's events...

so apparently the burden of keeping this blog from spiraling into the depths of emo-itude as matt langner drinks himself into a coma and discovers his "inner pussy" has fallen firmly on my broad, muscular shoulders. rowr.

so after a robust thanksgiving filled with the usual turkey, stuffing, and not being able to stand my family, i find myself back at our palace in jersey city heights. In addition to most of the food in my parents house, after this most recent visit i also obtained a kickass blender. to celebrate the new kitchen appliance, matt and i decided that the only acceptable way to spend the rest of the night was to drink a ridiculous frozen drink until we were shitfaced.

and so we arrive at NEON VOODOO...

neon voodoo is:

"1 part apple juice
1 part vodka
3 parts Mountain Dew® citrus soda

Combine the vodka, apple juice, and mountain dew in a blender with about 6-8 ice cubes, and blend on high for about 10 seconds. Add more vodka if desired." (naturally, more was desired)

Basically, matt and i looked for the drink with the coolest name to drink for the rest of the night. well, that and a couple of bottles of andre because our fridge takes like 70 hours to produce 4 ice cubes.

To help speed up the process of inebriation, i am teaching matt the "Intervention" Drinking Game, developed by my girlfriend jackie and myself. this is where we watch the show intervention and drink certain amounts for certain scenarios in this horribly depressing show about people struggling with addiction. i know, i know, its completely tasteless, but honestly the show is so formulaic that the rules are guarenteed to work from episode to episode.

INTERVENTION DRINKING GAME RULES

Drink whenever someone cries

Drink whenever the person says they dont have a problem

Drink twice if they admit to the problem but say they dont care

Drink when there is childhood abuse

Drink when there is parental absence

Drink when there is parental drug abuse

FINISH YOUR DRINK when they relapse

THEN try not too cry because if you played the game correctly, shit probably got way, way too real

Firstly, I hope everyone survived their food coma from thanksgiving. I think i ate more in these couple of days than i have eaten in the last 5 months. So i am good for another 5 more. Anyway. I thought i should check in and hopefully some new people are going to end up checking this.

I went to my hometown for thanksgiving. The wood. And it was very much a high school Reunion/ drunken embarrassment. It was nice to see some people that i have only been stalking through facebook (ha...is he joking?). But to all the new comers that i strong armed into checking out the band. I say come play with us. Our Heat is off

As i sit here with a cold nose and dressed in winter gear i could not help to realize that i have not written in a while. So with my cup of tea and a bottle of Jameson i hope to increase my body temperature. (our heat is off)

We are recording like crazy. Everything is sounding really good. And it is sounding different than our other stuff. We have established some good songs that i think will you will like. Not this stupid stuff that is happening now.

I was browsing the inter-web today and stumbled on cache of these teeny bopper bands that are dominating pre-teen audiences. Bands like boys like girls, cobra starship, the kings and queens or something .... and i think they fucking blow. Like seriously. I am all about melody and hooks and even willing to sell out a bit but these bands are bent over holding on to their ankles.

Music...more specific rock and roll.. is an expression of ones conflict, perception of the world, and loves won and lost . Not robotic voice sounds and synths speaking about sexual innuendo that comes off sugar coated. It is kind of like disco with all those teen beat singers with the fluffy hair. All the power to them of course because they are getting attention and living the dream. But i would personally be embarrassed.

Anyways more about the band. We are now planning to release a new song each week. Hopefully with a video that will accompany it. Depends how good we get at editing videos. The song will be put up on myspace and facebook each Tuesday. So stay tuned for the release of each song.

We have a plan. Annalisa and the rest of our support team are going get our music out there but we need you to dig it. So please spread the word and we will do our best. Much love. I will write a less heavy post once my body temperature rises.

My first posting

Well hello everyone,

My name's Eric, I am the singer/rhythm guitarist for Hello Midnight, and I thought it was about to time to say a little something on this cool new blog...so I'm gonna tell you a little about myself:

Right now I'm sitting in a Starbucks basement using the free wifi i get here for being a "partner"...which means i can mess around a little bit online before slaving away as a barista here in Hoboken's newest Starbucks. For a while I was the only band member with a source of income other than cashing out bonds or selling guitars, but now the lovely Benson is also dedicating some of his hours to a reputable restaurant - Cosi. I think it's a restaurant, I'm not sure, Benson can tell you more about what he does there than I can.

But if anyone's ever in Hoboken on Washington Ave between 3rd and 4th they should stop in and say hello to me...that would be cool, and I'm sure Benson would love if you came into his place of employment as well. I don't have to wear a hat and he does - that might be the biggest and most important difference between our jobs.

Alright...I have to go to work. Maybe next time I'll tell you about my favorite foods, color, dream date, etc... but those questions will have to wait. I'm gonna go throw on my Starbucks smile and make some fucking amazing lattes now.

Hey everybody we started recording in our makeshift studio and things are going well. check us out.

There. that didn't take 2 and a half hours or 6 paragraphs to write, so somebody tell ol' master's thesis matt langner that he isn't writing for the times so he can cool it with the editing and proofing of this effing thing.

Anyways, the whole point of this insanely popular blog is to tell you kids what we are up to so here it is. matt and i are sitting in our empty house drinking box wine and watching intervention and top chef. intriguing? not so much. romantic? more so than either of us are prepared to admit. whatever, we are getting shitty to shake those monday blues.

To WHOM this may Concern-

We have started recording. We are now doing demos. There is a link to the new song "Losing Ground" at the bottom of the page. As you have gathered from the other guys' posts--we are learning as we go. I think the songs are going to sound massive. And create some interest in what we are doing. I am doing a lot of writing so we are going to record as many songs as we can.

We are planning to release a song a week accompanied with a video to show our progress while demonstrating our antics of being such "ROCKSTARS." I guarantee that we think we are funny... maybe you will too.

You have many things to look forward to. Like the stimulating competition of NHL "hitz" and the occasional star wars/matrix arguments between Eric, prolow, and benson. In general we will entertain. We are going to share with you drunken debauchery and what else we can post pertaining to the band and our lifestyle. Hopefully through these videos we can start turning people on to our music while turning you on to us. (that sounded forward. but i mean it)

Here is our first crack at it. We are learning how to use my photo camera and not editing it. Think of it as recording #1 (Also look for it on youtube as well)

what do you get when you swing 3 xlr cables from prolow's window to matt's window, thus joining prolow's computer with a couple of mic-ed up amps in matt's room? if you said "a fire hazard," you are partially correct. and an asshole. but the correct answer is a makeshift RECORDING STUDIO, WOOOOOOO YEEEEYEEAH. so what we are doing now is moving around equipment, daisy-chaining powerstrips, digging for microphones and taking all other necessary steps to turn matt's room into a functioning studio to demo songs in. anyways to paint a more descriptive picture of what 135 terrace avenue now looks like, matt has beeen singing some song about punching vaginas, prolow is walking around making sure everyone knows that he has triumphed over technology, and i have absolutely been in the way for the last 15 minutes. and i folded my laundry. all in all, today will most certainly go down in the annals of hello midnight history as a day of momentous significance or whatever. if all goes according to our "plan", you can expect to hear some freshly recorded demos in the near future. stay classy.

hello all.

I promised that this blog would be worth checking. Well i hope. So we have started checking things off our list. Mobilizing to relaunch the band with a new look and a newer sound. As for look... NOT matching clothes or something but more how our online sites look and the direction the band will go in. I think we are now shaking off all the trail by error bullshit and have something worth getting turned on to. Right now i have posted up in the rehearsal room (our sunken living room) with a bottle of rum and a soda called Dr. Thunder to mix and an almost empty pack of cigs. Not that bad. i am finishing up lyrics and demoing. getting ready for the lads when they come back for practice tomorrow and the next day. They are voting at home like good guys... don't worry i am driving home tomorrow morning.

Before i forget. We are headlining a three day festival this Thursday at Red Star in Brooklyn (summer 07 memories). We are going to start using this as an outlet, updater, vent er (is that even a word). So please check it out. First. I hope everyone is well. It very cold out here and hibernating seems the only logical thing to do.

Whats happening with us personally?

Well first. The Philles have won the world series Prolow is pacing back and fourth receiving and making phone calls. He is off to the parade. Benson is now working at COSI in next to the Newport stop on the PATH in Jersey City. Go say hello and show him some love while makes sandwiches. Eric is at Starbucks working hard to put on a smile for all the caffeine addicts. I am.... yeah... I just quit a promotion job so i am searching. Can anybody help me?

What is happening with the Band?

Lots and Lots

First we are getting our shit organized. We have made many lists and hopefully we will start crossing off some things. We are currently getting material together to record. We are planning to have new tracks up with in the month. these new tracks have a more mature/original sound to them. Those of you who came out to our show Tuesday have heard a taste. It is really hard picking which ones to record because we have an excess of 20 + songs that could be good. The songs have made me very happy and the brand new stuff that is going to be demoed is prob the best stuff we have done in our short time together...

As for our online sites. We want you guys to be patient. The whole infrastructure of how we are using it and all that is being redone. Our friend Jade is redesigning the whole site. She is very talented. If i knew how to do html i would give a link to her blog... it will come.. But in any case we are going to relaunch hello midnight with a new site and new tracks very soon.

We are planning a TOUR!
That is right we are going to get the fuck out of the city area for awhile and hit the road. We are now planning our route so we will let you all know. If anyone has contacts let us know.

As it is approaching a year of jamming together (including the time at school) it is great to see progress. We have really only been putting in the time for a couple months because of school and in that time we have done a fair amount.

Lets get political? As for the election i hope obama in 08. And my bro turns 21 that day as well... it could be a massive day.
